Due to low interest and poor astronomer availability, the Andrews Lake event this Saturday has been cancelled. The last Chimney Rock event and the Chaco Astronomy Festival will still be available this weekend though.

Facebook Event
We're going to be hosting another annual Star Party at Mesa Verde NP on September 16 after last year's great success!

Join us at the Morefield Campground Amphitheater on Saturday, September 16th for a night under the pristine dark skies of one of our great national parks.

Local astronomers from the Four Corners Stargazers and the park will be on hand to present telescope views and knowledge of the cosmos. Dr. Charles Hakes of Fort Lewis College and the Durango Herald's "What's up in Durango Skies" column will be giving a talk as well.

The presentation starts at 8:00PM after astronomer setup is complete. Please arrive by 7:45PM so that you have time to park and set up your chairs.

Here are a few things to know from park staff:
-Dress warmly
-Bring a camp chair
-No dogs, please
-Bring binoculars if you have them
-Red lights ONLY after dark
-Morefield Campground is located four miles into the park.
Turn into the campground and follow the road about 1.5 miles to the amphitheater parking lot.

If the weather looks questionable, please call the Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum at 970-529-4631. We'll also update this site as well as our Facebook page.
